Busy Dragonflies

On my walk this morning there was a stroke of luck. I have been moaning about the lack of dragonflies, but today I spotted an Emperor dragonfly laying eggs on some waterweed in the canal.
Only a few yards away was a pair mating, or flying 'in cop', as I've since learned the experts call it. I believe these two were Vagrant Emperor dragonflies.
All this excitement was taking place by a narrow boat called Dragonfly.
I wasn't carrying a real camera, so the picture is not all it could be. Still, quite happy and my wildlife spotting list is getting longer.

I haven't seen on since I was a kid. I always thought they were cool.
