Um, There's a Mouse in the House

EEEEK!!!! (or should I say, Squeak!!!!)
Yes, we've spotted ONE mouse... Where there's one there's probably more. Funny, because yesterday, we spotted some mouse droppings. Then today, my daughter spotted a few more.
See, we have an AWESOME mouser cat who honestly, has gotten the job done since his arrival about 5 years ago. We've rarely seen any signs of mice. Though we do have this broke space on our door that I just KNOW they are coming through. But he's a great cat who does a great job...
UNTIL TODAY!
So, I'm decluttering and cleaning and just trying to get my bedroom livable again. And I'm pulling out a drawer that has STUFF in it... important stuff... paper stuff... stuff. and SCREAM.... I see a fluffy little mouse. Yes, he's fluffy and he's cute darn it. But his droppings aren't cute. And his unexpected presence is not cute.
It was rather comical. One of those moments you just wish was on video tape.
I screamed LOUDLY. My kids came running. Then we see it again. We ALL scream. Then I tell the kids, go get Strider (our cat). We bring him in, put him on the floor, see the mouse, we all scream again. The screams, I think, scare the heck out of the cat who takes off running.
I'm not sure if it is the screaming or what, but our cat wants NO part in catching this mouse. At this point, we have lost him. We were trying to corner him, he ran out (we screamed again) and we lost sight.
Of course, this has put a damper in my cleaning process. It's a little slower when you are picking up one thing at a time WITH TONGS!!!! (yes, funny sight).
needless to say, I'm going to ask hubby to get that hole covered up on his day off which is Friday....
I never considered myself afraid of mice until adulthood. i guess that is because as the mom, I'm the one who is opening drawers and having them frighten her or gross her out with their mouse poop. So technically, I'm not afraid of mice , but I don't like them.

I'm with you! I don't like them! I dread finding one because I'm on my own to get rid of it.

Mice freak me out too.
This afternoon I was walking across the lawn and saw a little snake slither away, I froze momentarily and then darted to the patio and up the stairs to the deck. My husband was in our garage and saw me from the window, and came out and asked me for the keys to the shed-so he could get something to kill it, which he succeeded at. Mice, snakes, creepy little rodents.

We also have a mouse problem in our apartment. Since we cannot own a cat, we just bought fly paper to catch them. Its the sticky yellow type used to catch flies but they also work on catching mice.

@jillybean1222 So you all had a scream fest. And the mouse is still there?

Oh I feel for you - we live in a two story house and had a mouse upstairs. How it got there I don't know, but I heard it rustling about in the bedside cabinet. I just picked up the whole cabinet and somehow got it downstairs and into the garden, where it ran off.
Fortunately there haven't been any more.
I hope Strider does his job in the future or you might have to fire him

I am not a fan either, but they are awfully cute. We are trying to live-trap at the store where I work to take them across the river and let them go. I used some poison in my garage though, so uncivilized.
