Kevin Smith Takes on an Online Troll

I just read an article that said that director Kevin Smith had a go at an online troll who called his seventeen year old daughter ugly. What I most took from the article wasn't the fact that someone had a go at his daughter (it's the internet; put enough physical distance between two people and one will be willing to say stuff they wouldn't dare say to someone's face). No, what I noticed was the name of his daughter. He's called her Harley Quinn. Really? That seems a rather cruel thing to do to your child, naming them after a supervillainess. Or a superhero for that matter. Or any reasonably well known comic book or cartoon character (and Harley Quinn has just had a boost in visibility from Suicide Squad).
Director Kevin Smith is taking on an online troll who called his daughter "ugly" and "talentless" and wished her dead on Instagram.

I am actually planning to name my future kids after fictional characters but I will go for the more obscure ones. Harley Quinn is one of my favorite Batman Villains but naming a daughter after her sounds weird. I mean she is a Psycho and she had killed innocent people just to impress Mistah J.

Yes, it's not really what you want as a role model for your children is it? I would probably try to pick ones that (a) aren't psychopaths and (b) have fairly normal names.

@egdcltd Harley is also a woman with Stockholm syndrome who sticks up with her abusive boyfriend. Not really a role model for sure. I love the character but I wont name daughters after her.

He's made a few films, but most of them could probably be classed as cult. I've only seen one of them - Dogma.
