Which Bible Do You Prefer?

Persons of many different religions read the Bible, as well as other Holy Books. Do you prefer a particular translation of the Bible? Or do you read another Holy Book? Many churches of Christendom use the King James Version of the Bible, which was the first Bible to be translated into the English language from the original languages of Hebrew and Greek. This translation was published in 1611 by the order of King James l of England. Other churches use a more modern English translation, since no one NOW, speaks in 17th century English. Some find the King James Version of the Bible more difficult to understand, with all the old English words that were used. And while the King James Version is a beautiful work of art because of its use of these old English words, a more modern English translation is easier to understand. Since then, there have been many other translations into, not only the English language, but also into thousands of other languages that are spoken around the world. Millions of Bibles are distributed worldwide, making the Bible the most published book on the face of the Earth. While that is a TRUE statement, many people who OWN a Bible, do not take the time to read it for themselves. If a person really believes that it is the “Word of God,” wouldn’t it be important for each person to read it for themselves, instead of letting someone else tell them what it says? The Bible has many critics also, persons who claim that the Bible is the work of human writers, but while men were USED to write down the words, the Bible, is in fact, inspired by God. The Bible offers HOPE to humans, that this wicked world will soon be replaced by a “new world” of righteousness. Here’s a link to some information you might want to read, no matter what you believe right now. https://www.jw.org/en/publications/books/bible-teach/what-is-gods-kingdom/ Picture by Pixabay

@Raj7779 The Bhagavad-Gita is part of the Mahabharata, and is the "supreme instruction of morality" according to my research? The oldest and most sacred scriptures were called the Vedas, a collection of hymns and prayers, known as Rig-Veda, the Sama-Veda, the Yajur-Veda and the Atharava-Veda. Then there was also mentioned the Brahmanas and the Upanishads. What is something interesting that you have read? I have been reading about the Hindu religion and one thing that I read said that while Westerners see life as a chronological line of events in history, Hindus see life as a self-repeating cycle in which human history is of little importance. This reference book also indicated that Hinduism is not easy to define since it has no definite creed, priestly hierarchy or governing agency. One reference said that Hinduism has 330 million gods and yet it is said that Hinduism is not polytheistic. That Hinduism speaks of just ONE God. Are those true statements do you think?

I have always used the King James Version when doing Bible study at church. It is what a grew up and the one that I came to know. I have read it through. A few years back I got a more modern one which was an easy read. I read that one from start to finish. I enjoyed both version but I still prefer the King James version.

The King James Bible has been available since 1611, so it is just a little over 400 years old and for many years, it was the only Bible available in the English language. Today, there are many Bibles, not only in English, but also in hundreds of other languages spoken throughout the world. I feel that God is making sure that everyone in the world has an opportunity to read the Bible in their own language. Considering what is happening in the world today, many people believe that we are living in what the Bible calls "the last days." What does the Bible say about those "last days" and how a person can survive. This, to me, is the most important information that a person could possess. Here is a link you might enjoy:
What is God’s purpose? Learn when suffering will end and how paradise on earth will be restored in the future, as well as who will live in that paradise.

I like the American Standard Version and the New World Translation. I also compare The Living Bible. It's a paraphrased Bible, but sometimes the wording is more to the point. For instance: In the King James Bible, at Ecclesiastes 5:10, 11 it says: "He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver: nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owner thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes." The Living Bible says: "He who loves money shall never have enough. The foolishness of thinking that wealth brings happiness! The more you have, the more you spend, right up to the limits of your income, so what is the advantage of wealth - except perhaps to watch it as it runs through your fingers." More to the point, don't you think?

In my younger years as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, I thought that any Bible can do. However, my Pastor gave me a wonderful book that helped me understand which is the closest English translation from the original. From then on, I now use the King James Authorized Version 1611. I have seen the comparison from other English translations and found that many doctrines, words, and meaning have changed or omitted.
