Joseph Nocco reports the news the Atlanta Braves have called up from their minor leagues farm team catcher Tyler Flowers to join their team on Wednesday. Flowers had been placed on the 15 day disabled list with a fracture of his left hand on July 10. Flowers will replace catcher A J Pieryzinski who was placed on the 15 day disabled list with a strain of his left hamstring. Pieryzinski is likely to miss at least three to four weeks out of the starting lineup of the Braves due to his latest injury. Flowers will be the starting catcher of the Braves ahead of backup catcher Anthony Recker for the time being until Pierzynksi is ready to be activated back into the starting lineup when he is fully healthy.

This is an opportunity for Flowers to shine. Pieryzinski is near the end of the line.
