My sister keeps on encouraging me to work on the correction of my name in my birth certificate. The name that I am using is not the one in my birth certificate. I don't like the name that my father gave me when I was born. Good that my Aunt changed it when I was baptized. When we went to Singapore , I was obliged to use my name in my birth certificate for my passport. But now, my sister really wants me to visit them in Maryland. I cannot apply for a VISA to US because all my documents have the name that I am using now. I can't present them as proofs. I have to pay a certain amount for the processing of my birth certificate. But I think I really have to work on it now. Photo credit: tripadvisor.com

Now that the system in government and shifting from turtle phase to fast one, and the redtape is now minimizing, I think you need to go and take advantage on that opportunity..

@magallon i think charges and fees are to be expected, but the processing time should be faster

@magallon, @hereandthere is correct. For sure there will be fees on that. We can only avoid now is the red tape and the very slow processing of papers.

Yes, fix the birth certificate NOW, it could bring a lot of trouble to you if you don't.

I think it's now easy to work for it unlike before that we have to go to court for that.

You need to work on it before it's too late. I think it is very easy now. Is it cost anything?

I was told before that it will cost me 8,000 pesos for the processing. But that was year 2011. I don't know now how much is it.

@JustBhem That's the reason why until now I have not processed my birth certificate. I think that amount is too high. I am very positive that I can go to Maryland soon.

@magallon Wow. That's too much. We don't know today. Well you can ask first how much is the processing fee. Take the chance to go to Maryland.

I really don't like the name that my father gave me. It's the name of our former President. My father told me that he gave me that name because I was born on Black Saturday.
