How Would You Take It?

I've got something weighing heavy on my mind and thought my myLot friends could help me 
Anyway, we share three lots with my hubby's mother (my MIL) and we also share the same mailbox. I got something in the mail the other day and apparently she ordered the same thing.
She asked her son, if I mistook "her" package, because she was expecting the same thing!!! Now, to me that sounds like she is accusing me of "tampering" with her mail!! Tampering with some one else's mail is punishable!! Now, she on the other hand has opened some one else's mail (her daughter that got this place...long story.)
Of course her son sees things about his mom differently than I do. He knows how she is and "accepts" it because she is his mom! I, as a woman take offense to things like that and she NEVER confronts me about the things I "supposedly" do !! She always tells her son about what I do or how I do it!! So, when she does come to talk to me I "express" those things and then she doesn't even come around me (which is fine with me) because I confront her about things!!

She should have asked you if you accidentally took the wrong package. Then you wouldn't feel like she was accusing you of anything, you would just think she was asking nicely. Going behind your back is what was wrong with that situation and it would make me feel that way too with how it was done.
