Hello mylot pals. Please i need your opinion , I have a friend who his currently face with making a decision whether to send his 12years old son to a boarding school facility . Do you think it is right to send children between the age of 10 - 18 years to a boarding school.

I guess it all depends on the parents and how they feel. For me I could not do it. I like to have my children at home. I would not be happy sending them off to go to school somewhere else. 10 years old seems so young to be leaving home to go to school.

It depends if the child is mature and capable enough to handle living alone, but it can be a great learning experience.

Boarding school is used as a threat here. I mean, your child misbehaves? You will say "if you keep on being a naughty kid, I'll send you to the boarding school". So well, I guess it is a bad thing. His son will miss his family quite a lot, too. I think the boy himself should choose, by the way.

It depends on the maturity of the child. My granddaughter decided she wanted to go to sleep away camp when she was six.

If his son is responsible and independent enough, then he can send him to a boarding school.
