Joseph Nocco reports the news on Thursday the Washington Nationals have promoted from their AAA minor league team the Syracuse Chiefs right handed relief pitcher 24 year old A J Cole to join the team on Thursday.
Cole has pitched the entire 2016 baseball season with the Syracuse Chiefs before he received the news to pitch for the parent team on Thursday
To make room for Cole on their 25 man active roster, the Nationals have demoted their outfielder Brian Goodwin to their AAA minor league team the Syracuse Chiefs.
Goodwin had been called by the Nationals from the minor league team on August 6, 2016 where he had a batting average of .250 in seven games played in his first season in the Major Leagues.
The Atlanta Braves are hosting the Nationals in Atlanta Georgia in the first of a four game series to be played at Turner Field.

The Nats must be in need of pitching depth over the weekend.
