Katie Strang reports the news the Detroit Tigers have called up outfielder Alex Presley from their AAA minor league team the Toledo Mud Hens. Presley will replace right handed relief pitcher Bobby Parnell who was released by the Tigers on Thursday he pitched in six games in relief with a record of no wins and no losses but with an earned run average of 6.75 which was not good enough to keep him on their 25 man roster. Due to an injury to the left knee to center fielder Tyler Collins on Wednesday during the Tigers 4-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals and outfielder Cameron Maybin on the disabled list with a thumb injury. The Tigers needed the services of Presley on their 25 man roster on Thursday. Even though the bruise to the left knee to Collins is not likely to put him on the disabled list, the Tigers wanted to have Presley as their insurance outfielder for the time being.

I think Presley has previous major league experience.

I think Alex has played for the Milwaukee Brewers before the Tigers claimed him off waivers.

Sounds like he wasn't the help they were looking for. I'm getting ready to watch the Packers/Oakland game and hoping to hear whether Jordy Nelson is back.

Alex just might be an insurance policy for the Tigers at this time.
