Snail Party In My Garden

Have you read my snail discussion a week if not weeks ago? Did I not tell you that I was hoping that they were all dead by now? Well, they are not. Last night when I accompanied Angus, our dog, in the garden to pee for the last time before going to bed, we saw loads of snails strolling in our pathways. Maybe they were on their way to their favorite plants. We had Snail Party . With flashlights! My cousin and I went immediately to the plants which were losing their leaves. We were right. Some were devouring their delicious meal. Our weapon (salt) on the other hand and flashlight in the other, we started killing them one by one until we felt disgusted and I went to bath to scratch off the itchy feeling in my skin. Yuck! This morning I inspected the "Tatort" (the place were the killing happened). There were not plenty of killed snails and so we were hunting again this evening. They were not many. Maybe they were hiding again and just go out when they think we are sleeping. So, how was your day?

Wow! You live at the beach. No wonder there are no snails there. Snails are scared of salts.

@thelme55 we have a very old frog here that croaks with its voice like a human being coming out of the deepest abyss, and you can be scared with it especially if it croaks in the midst of silence in the night.

@ridingbet I could imagine how I would jump when something loud comes from a silent night.

I can imagine how loud it was @ridingbet. I don't like the noise of the frogs during rainy season.

Were you guys or the snails having a party? My kids love snails - they like to pick them up and take them as temporarily pets (I say pests ).

@thelme55 Of course not . We didn't actually let them keep them as pets at home . . . but it was fun for them to have for that particular moment when they were playing. I'd rather go to a snail hunting party !

Is it possible to collect the snails and put them near bird cage or in any park? I think that's better than killing.

Are grasshoppers good to combat against snails @crazyhorseladycx? I have not seen grasshopper since I arrived here in my home town in the Philippines.

We have snails here too in our garden, but it's not entirely messing my moringa plants. However, my largest okra plant seems to have been seriously infested.

How do you fight the snails @Letranknight2015 ? My turmeric plants are almost bald and I don't like them to be destroyed.

I haven't seen too many snails in my garden lately. I remember your previous post and I'm sorry the pests are still round,
