Ecoli Outbreak! Boil Your Water

United States

That's the message I awoke to yesterday morning. Apparently a city not too far away from me (not exactly sure but think 45- 1 hr 15?) had a case of E-coil come up. Water at ONE home tested positive and they've made the (good) choice to issue a boil water advisory. I think that should be lifted soon, and no other water has tested positive, but they still drained the mains (main water lines around the home) and are doing all they can to get the water back to tip - top shape. This comes only a few years after a coal ash spill in another river that supplies water to our area. The confidence level of our water supply has REALLY soared with me here lately! (Sarcasm heavily intended)

Do you consider buying your very own water filter? I am using one now because I just cant trust tap water.

I am in the process of deciding which is best to get actually. I'd prefer a water filter pitcher but will most likely have to settle for a water filter attached to a faucet.

@ScribbledAdNauseum The faucet attachment is the best one. I do have a brita pitcher though.

Disgusting what can be in the water and we don't know it. I'm sure that is why so many go for bottled water now over tap. I rarely drink water period, which I know isn't good for me.

If you think about it, bottled isn't much better. The plastic, there's no telling what leeches into the water. As for not drinking water at all, no it's not good but if our water is poisoned (as so many believe) then perhaps it's better not to.

I've been wondering if ANY of us should be confident about our water supply. You hear such horror stories.

So very sad and yet so very true as well. We truly just do not know anymore.
