What About Gold and Silver and Other “Precious Metals?” I just posted an article about the value of diamonds and other gems. So, what about Gold and Silver and other so-called “precious metals?” What makes anything valuable? Who and when and most of all, WHY did humans decide that certain things were more valuable than other things? This is a STRANGE world we live in. Humans have fought wars and murdered other humans to obtain gold and silver and diamonds. WHY? It doesn’t make sense to me. What do you think?

Man decreed these were valuable gems and metals seemingly at the dawn of mankind and have manipulated and controlled their "value" ever since. If all the diamonds were made available instead of locked away by the industry, they would be valueless.

It's the same with pearls, I guess. Man thinks they are valuable too. I think they are beautiful, but what REAL value does any gem or metal have when it comes to things of value. All the diamonds in the world can't cure cancer or heart disease. Good health is very valuable but few people have it and no one lives forever in this system of things, no matter how rich they are.

I think its all sort of silly I m shocked at how expensive 'black hills gold jewelry 'is now sure wish I had not sold mine as a young woman its very pretty stuff. I loved it for its looks not because it was gold.

I purchased some Black Hills gold jewelry when we were in South Dakota, but our friend there took us to Pawn Shops rather than jewelry stores and we found some GREAT bargains. I wear one of the rings quite often. The ear rings I got, I have somehow misplaced. Hopefully, I will find them again, soon.
