K-9 Frustrations

In my neverending quest of searching for my "perfect" job, I've come into one major problem that, I believe, has affected my ability to apply, if not accept, job offers. I've waited 31 years to become a dog owner, and now that I am, I don't ever want to leave him at home for an excess of 5 hours. I've looked up all kinds of laws regarding service, emotional support, etc. dogs, and nothing that applies to me would allow Louie to accompany me everywhere I go. Louie is almost 2, but has completed several Petsmart dog training sessions, and listens well and obeys command. I'd say by the time he's 3-5, I would trust him completely leash-less in public- - not that I would ever feel leash-less dogs is acceptable. Many jobs do not allow dogs at the workplace (see my discussion "Dogist") despite there being numerous benefits to doing so - - look at Google! This rarely conversed interview topic could be the difference to my applying and accepting a job. Dogs are pack animals - - they are happiest with their pack members. Is it fair to leave Fido at home because someone else doesn't like the way dogs smell? Should there be more "standards" or "etiquettes" for dogs to be accepted into public spaces??

I am severely allergic to most dogs, so I would not want dogs in the workplace with me. However, I don't like to be a big party-pooper, so I'm wondering if there could be a way to bring one's dogs to work, yet still be sensitive to people like me? You know how many employers have daycare facilities for the employees? Well, why don't they have doggy-daycare rooms at the place of employment? Everyone who wants to bring their dogs to work can drop them off a doggy-daycare, and on their breaks or lunch they can quickly go visit their dog!

Interesting career choice. Sometimes careers are changed or begin later in life. If it's something that's enjoyed then that's a blessing.

If I had a business I would not want animals brought to work with employees. What about working at home?
