In olden days the education system was totally different prior to the Rule of the British. There were "Gukula Pathasalas", though not similar to those existed during Vedic Periods. This is totally a different story. The British brought radical changes in the Education System. There were some changes that had been made without touching the roots of the Education System prevailing in India. The only change that they made was the introduction of English as one of the subject, though it was for some selfish motives, it actually opened the area of perception of the teachers as well as the students.Though it had both positive and negative aspects, it is only the latter which proved very helpful for the later generations in their fight for Freedom Struggle. The teachers were dedicated to their profession. The teachers were commanding respect and were dedicated to their profession. Taking tuition at home was felt like an INSULT to themselves. The students were quite obedient and if there was anything wrong or notice of going the student taking wrong ways it was immediately brought to the notice of the parents The teachers, irrespective of their caste, color, creed, or religion were taking classes meant for the students and the point of showing discrimination while awarding marks was totally not known. They were obeying the orders of the Government and were ready to pack up to whatever place they were transferred. The above scene is totally taken a wrong track. The education has become a costly commodity which a common man can not afford. The entire system has been diluted since 1969 and the scent has lost its fragrance and resulted in affecting directly the Administration with poor and ineffective policies and Planning.

I think what you have is good compared to the educational system we have here. Kids do whatever they want it seems. More people are home schooling their children because the public school system is so out of control.

We have to compromise with the system or we have to go somewhere else.
