Day 156 Psalm 135 Psalm 135:1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the name of the LORD; praise him, O ye servants of the LORD. 2 Ye that stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God, 3 Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant. 4 For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure. 5 For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. 6 Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places. 7 He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; he makes lightning for the rain; he brings the wind out of his treasuries. 8 Who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast. 9 Who sent tokens and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants. 10 Who smote great nations, and slew mighty kings; 11 Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan: 12 And gave their land for a heritage, a heritage unto Israel his people. 13 Thy name, O LORD, endures forever; and thy memorial, O LORD, throughout all generations. 14 For the LORD will judge his people, and he will repent himself concerning his servants. 15 The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands. 16 They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not; 17 They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths. 18 They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusts in them. 19 Bless the LORD, O house of Israel: bless the LORD, O house of Aaron: 20 Bless the LORD, O house of Levi: ye that fear the LORD, bless the LORD. 21 Blessed be the LORD out of Zion, which dwells at Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD. When people think of treasures they think of sunken ships and all the treasure they could contain. Or they think of the things they have from their youth that they accumulated and consider those their treasures. However, the psalmist said we, God’s children are God’s treasure. We are more than idols who cannot do anything for the people who worship them. We are God’s treasure, peculiar, because we are all individual and all unique in our several abilities. I know I have never considered myself God’s treasure. But consider what we do with our treasures. Don’t we care for them, make sure they don’t break or tarnish? Don’t we keep our treasures in good condition at all times? Now consider how we care for our treasures and how God cares for us. Isn’t it the same? Doesn’t God make certain nothing comes against us to harm us? Doesn’t he make certain nothing will destroy us? Doesn’t he place us in a place of honor? Yes, he does. If you are one of God’s children, having accepted Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord, you are a unique treasure in God’s sight, and he will do everything he can to keep you safe from all harm. If you have not accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord, there is still time for you to do so and you too will be among God’s treasures, unique and peculiar, with a place and purpose among God’s people. That is something to truly give God praise for and bless his holy name. Let’s pray: Father, thank you that I am your precious treasure and you take care of me, seeing no harm comes to me. Help me to bless your name and give you praise every day of my life because you alone are King of KINGS and Lord of LORDS. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Sometimes God will allow bad things to happen to us. I know... I was homeless for one year and ten months, and I am still struggling. He never promises nothing bad will happen. He just promises that He will see us through it, and work out for good, the bad things that did happen to us.

I agree. He doesn't promise only good times, but he does promise to help us through the bad times.

I'm so glad you enjoyed this study and so sorry I missed this. It must have been during my move when I lost a lot of post comments and didn't realize this was among them.
