Another airplane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and “The Big Bopper” (J.P. Richardson) happened in 1959. It came to be known as “the day the music died.”
I graduated from high school that same year and I remember very clearly when that happened.
So, in 1963, there was Patsy Cline and the two others who died with her in that plane crash, the three mentioned above in a different plane crash and Ricky Nelson also died in a plane crash in 1985.
Other singers that have died in plane crashes include Stevie Ray Vaughan, members of the Lynyrd Skynyrd band, Otis Redding, Jim Croce, Aaliyah, and John Denver.
Tragedies that shouldn’t have happened. Bad weather and pilot error and overloading the airplane in some cases.
There may have been others, but these are all I can think of right now.
Can you think of any others?
I consider these tragic accidents as a HUGE loss of talent. Many other singers have succumbed to death by drugs. Also very sad.
Elvis, Michael Jackson and Prince to mention a few.
The world of music has lost some very talented singers in the last 60 years. Many more than those that I have mentioned here.

I think you pretty much covered all plane crashes involving singers. There was Glenn Miller whose plane disappeared during WWII.

OK I didn't remember about Glenn Miller. I'll have to check that out. Thanks.

Didn't Left Eye (Lisa Lopez) from TLC die in a plane crash too?
