Look how quickly I finished this book! When I first posted I was reading this book I said I didn't think I was going to like it because it appeared to be a spy thriller with government connections. I usually stay away from these types of stories because I figure I wouldn't understand them. I also posted that there were a couple of story lines that I figured would come together at some point but obviously, at the time, I couldn't see how. In fact a third story line reared its head. All three story lines came together in a unique way. This "thriller" novel was definitely a thriller and I found it intriguing. It was a new world for me learning about detention camps in North Korea and government military training in the U.S. The story moved along quickly with very short chapters. There was no technical mumbo jumbo. In fact, my only confusion came in separating the male and female lead characters because they were called by their last names most of the time and both their last names began with the same letter. Yeah, I have a problem with that. In the story I am currently writing I had to change one of the child's names because his name began with the same letter as his father and I kept getting them confused... in my own novel!!! The editor in me found, I think, 3 tiny mistakes that I am sure no one else will notice. The Target is a good novel, exciting and very well written. It gets 5 stars from me. I look forward to reading more from David Baldacci.
