Hanging a Crkystal ball

There was a crystal ball on my T.V. I did not notice it properly. Even while cleaning I was just cleaning it along with other articles in a routine manner. One of my friends has seen it yesterday. He asked me a nice long thread. He inserted in the hole which was on the top of the crystal. He advised me to hang it inside the house at the main entrance. I was shocked to know that it was a feng shui item. He told me that the cost of it would be around $30 if I purchase it now. Really, we do not know the value of certain things unless somebody tells about them.
