A gift to myself

One last try to have an upright image

If you're on Facebook, you know how often one ad or another will pop up hoping you fall prey to its allure. As a cat person, I am very susceptible to the siren's call of cat-themed products. Usually, my degree of poverty keeps me from biting the hook they so expertly place before me. Lately, though, I've been in sorry need of a pick-me-up, something to make me feel like me again. Then I saw it - an ad for oven mitts covered with kitties. Not just kitties - MEOWING kitties!!! I'd seen them before, but the price was not even remotely attractive. This time, though, they'd marked them down to a price very comparable to prices I'd seen in stores for regular non-themed products. My own oven mitts had long disappeared (despite having kept them together with their matching hot pads, which are also gone). I decided to bite the self-indulgence bullet and order a pair with the same rent money I used to buy the pain reliever. Both items came yesterday and, like the pain reliever, I feel ever so much better now. I love these things! They're so cute and not at all flimsy. PLUS - each purchase feeds shelter cats (I can't remember how many for these), so I helped make some real kitties happy. Aren't they cute?? (This is ridiculous!! All of my images are turned sideways when they post even though they weren't sideways in my folders!!!)

@crazyhorseladycx It depends on the situation whether there's guilt involved. There was far more when the kids were little and they needed this or that. But, they're both grown and have good jobs and I get to treat myself once in a while. But, especially when I was feeling down and had been feeling like crap for so long. I just wanted to have something to smile about. No guilt.

@Hatley I have seen people say things to you, but I don't see you and your name doesn't come up under search. Can you check to see if I got blocked somehow? I've checked mine and nothing.

Thank you, Patsie!! I'm so glad to see you. I haven't seen you in so long, not even on FB. In fact, I can't find you there anymore.

I love kittens. They are very adorable. When I was a kid, I would always adopt kittens but my family doesn't like them. They said that I might get asthma from them.

Oh, pooh. Unless you have a serious allergy, having a cat doesn't develop asthma. I'd still have them even if I was allergic.

@jerzgirl I don't know about it. I have some kinds of allergy but not with animals.

I have an upside down one as well. Annoying is putting it mildly.

You probably need to resize the photos smaller, they turn sideways for me when they are too large. Cute oven mitts.

Thank you. I tried one more time reducing the image even more than I had and it worked!!! I wish I could figure out how to take smaller pics on this phone. My old phone allowed me to adjust the pixels. I can't find that option on this one.

@BelleStarr I do, too, but it would be nice to avoid that step from the get-go.

@jerzgirl I just use "Paint" on my computer to reduce the size.

I rarely bake, but I use cast iron pans and do make casseroles, etc, so they come in handy!!

Those really are adorable! I love shopping online, other than my thrift and dollar store shopping, that's where I do most of it. I love when the packages come. My degree of poverty limits me too, lol.

Yes, I do get almost as much pleasure out of their arrival as I do the reveal!!
