The Stout Brown Bear and the Cake Once upon a modern day there came a stout brown bear, Ruuff by name, out of the urban jungle and into the suburbs. Ruuff marveled at the bright green grass surrounding neatly laid-out houses, the two-car garages filled with intriguing junk, the three automobiles in every driveway, and the lack of streetcars, undergrounds, and street vendors. He thought, “How am I to keep my weight up in so barren an area?” Then, putting his sniffer to work, he smelled out cake odor emanating from one of the pretty houses. Wandering over to the house, Ruuff went around to the back of the place and saw that the entry door at the rear of the house was wide open. He went inside where the cake smell was strongest of all. There on the table was a big and beautiful birthday cake. It was chocolate cake, the kind of cake most liked by hungry bears, particularly hungry stout bears. Ruuff did not waste any time. He ate the whole cake, birthday candles and all, in about three big bites. By this time, however, the house's silent alarm system had been triggered. In rushed the sheriff and his men, weapons drawn and at the ready. Surprised to find that the intruder was a cake-stealing fat brown bear, they opened fire and filled fat and happy Ruuff full of lead. Moral:It is important for your continued health that you maintain dietary forbearance if you are already overweight, and it is of almost equal importance that you not crash someone's party without being invited because that usually results in your abrupt departure. * * * * * * * * * * Image source:My Broderbund image DVD * * * * * * * * * *

Lucky me, I don't like chocolate cakes lol! Is that why I'm still alive?

@toniganzon - Ms Toni - Chocolate cakes won't kill you. You will be gone, however, if you swallow any lighted birthday cake candles. -Gus-

@KristenH - Ms Kristen - I think that I might possibly know why it is that you never heard of this fable before now. It is because I did not write this fable before now. (That explanation is probably the best that I can do for you at the moment, but I will put some more thinking into it.) -Gus-
