Are dreams subconscious or a way to enter other dimensions?

We all dream at some point in time. Falling down in a deep hole, seeeing someone who we don`t know or has passed away. Feeling extremely happy or on edge when waking up after a dream. What does it all mean?
I had an interesting dream where I was sleeping in an old house on a top of a hill. I heard footsteps and someone grabbing me by the arm! It was so vivid and unique that iI immediately woke up. I wondered if I had touched something in my sleep but there was nothing in sight. It still haunts me.Do dreams want to tell us something or prepare us for future situations. I wonder...

I feel we are in other dimensions. When my former husband got cancer, one night he was talking all night as though he were at work -- on a newspaper job, he was a journalist. I could tell he was actually AT this place. What he said made perfect sense. I could tell he was totally in another world.

What specifically did he say? Was he agitated, happy, intrigued? What did he say?
