Have You Ever Been To Las Vegas, Nevada?

Las Vegas is perhaps the most popular tourist attraction in the world besides Disney World. I don’t know which one would win that contest.
I’ve been to Las Vegas three times. All three times were paid for by the company I worked for. Since I’m not a gambler, I never had the desire to go to Las Vegas, but there is more to Las Vegas than just gambling.
What I enjoyed were the shows that I got to see and the celebrities that I got to see perform. One of my favorite shows was “EAU” by the Cirque du Soleil. It was positively amazing.
I also got to see The Temptations and The Platters, which I thoroughly enjoyed since their music is my favorite decade of music. Doo-wop from the 50s is my favorite. I know I’ve said that before.
On my first trip to Vegas which was many years ago, I saw the Follies Begere and Eddy Arnold. He was very popular back then.
I had hoped to see Celine Dion but we couldn’t get tickets. And of course, I would have loved to see Elvis, but that didn’t happen either.
I don’t expect to ever go to Las Vegas again, but I am glad that I had the opportunity to go and experience the excitement and glamour of Las Vegas, for what its worth. Just to say I've been there, I guess.
Another fun fact about Las Vegas, or so I've heard, is that Las Vegas has more hotel rooms than any other city in the world. It also has some of the largest hotels in the world.
I stayed at the Luxor once. Huge hotel.

@BelleStarr I didn't know that. I would also love to see her show. I went to a show in Myrtle Beach once at "The Legends" and there was a female singer there that looked and sounded so much like Celine that it was amazing. She was really good.
But, the second time I went to "The Legends" show, she wasn't there, but there were other performers who were excellent.

@IreneVincent I saw her perform in Quebec City for the 400th anniversary and she was amazing there. Of course, French Canada is her hoe turf. She and I are 5th cousins.

Las Vegas also has the cheapest hotel room rates because they make their money in the casinos. My daughter took me to Las Vegas last fall for my birthday. We did a wee bit of gambling but it's not my thing (and I stink at it). But we enjoyed the big zip line and a couple of shows - Menopause The Musical, Stand-up comedy, and Fright Dome (it was Halloween). I would have loved to see Donny and Marie but they weren't there during my brief stay. I'd like to go back to see more shows (I never thought I'd say that) but my daughter is planning a different trip for me this fall.

@IreneVincent Actually, we found the dining out quite expensive. There was a buffet restaurant in our hotel and the price was astronomical. We only had the one meal there. Mostly we ate at a little deli just off the casino floor in the lower level. We stayed at Circus Circus.

Yes, you are right about cheap hotel rooms, and even dining out is not expensive. The casinos bring in the money.

@patgalca Really? Maybe the price of meals has gone up since I was there. I thought dining out was very reasonable.

Vegas is a SITE to see, that's for sure. There's nothing like Las Vegas anywhere else in the world.

No, I have never been there, but my parents have. They like to go there to gamble.

@IreneVincent I don't gamble either. If I went to Vegas, I would want to see shows and shop.

@LeaPea2417 The shows are fabulous. At least the ones I got to see. I think it's fun to go in the casinos and watch other people gamble. I have stood at roulette tables and watched and at poker tables. I love to play poker with poker chips, but I would never gamble. I watched some very flashy woman put money into slot machines, playing three at a time as fast as she could put the money in. That' was crazy to watch.

Yes, I remember those days. Picking up hitchhikers NOW is definitely NOT a good idea. AND very few people hitchhike anymore for the same reason. It's not safe.

Really? How nice. I guess that was an exciting place to get married. I understand there are lots of "wedding chapels" in Las Vegas.

@IreneVincent We didn't really go because it was exciting, we went because it was easy. You can get your marriage license and get married the same day.
Weddings are big business in Las Vegas. We had been living together for several years, and we had a child. We just wanted to make it official.

Yes, the fountains are in front of the Bellagio Hotel and the fountains are fun to watch when they "perform." On one of my trips, the wind was blowing too strong so the fountain show was cancelled.

I've never been there. I'd like to go for research purposes (my biography subject played Vegas numerous times), but like you, I don't gamble (and there's a casino about 15 miles from my house, so why should I go there just to gamble?).

Gambling is available in more states now, so you must live in one of those areas. I don't gamble, but I understand the attraction to it that some people have. I love to play poker with poker chips.

Living in LA means I have been to Vegas innumerable times in addition to living there for five months.

Vegas is popular for those who live in California. My cousin goes to Vegas quite a few times a year. She lives in California.

Lots of companies take their employees to Las Vegas on business trips. The company I worked for gave us FREE vacation trips to Las Vegas several times. And to other places also. Otherwise I probably would never have gone.
