Dennis Lin reports the news on Saturday the San Diego Padres have claimed off the waiver wire former Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Oswaldo Arcia off waivers on Saturday. Arcia started the 2016 baseball season with the Tampa Bay Rays before he was placed on waivers on August 19, 2016. The Miami Marlins claimed Arcia off waivers on August 23, 2016 before he was designated for assignment by the Marlins two days later after former Atlanta Braves outfielder Jeff Francouer was traded to the Marlins by the Braves for their minor league infielder and catcher Matt Foley. The Marlins released Arcia since they figure that Francouer would be a better fit for their team that is contention to make a playoff run this year. Arcia has been designated for assignment during the current baseball season by the Minnesota Twins, Tampa Bay Rays and now the Miami Marlins.

It's just a pickup by a bad team filling out minor rosters. He will be with San Diego after the roster expansion.

Being DFAed by three other teams in one baseball season shows that Arcia is just lucky to be playing in the Major Leagues this year even if it is with the Padres for the remainder of the year,
