Cincinnati Reds activate RHP relief pitcher Alfredo Simon from the 15 disabled list

Mark Sheldon reports the news on Monday the Cincinnati Reds have activated from the 15 day disabled list right handed relief pitcher Alfredo Simon.
Simon had been placed on the 15 day disabled list on June 22 which was retroactive to June 16 with an injury to his right pitching shoulder.
Simon last pitched for the Reds on June 15 during a baseball game versus the Atlanta Braves.
To make room for Simon on the Reds 25 man active roster, the Reds demoted right handed relief pitcher Josh Smith to their AAA minor league team the Louisville Bats on Monday.
Simon will become a free agent at the end of the 2016 baseball season since his one year, $2 million dollar contract expires at the end of the current baseball season.
Simon has a pitching record of two wins and seven losses with an earned run average of 9.45 earned run average in 13 games pitched.
Simon has pitched 11 games as a starter and two a relief pitcher during the 2016 baseball season.
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will be hosting the Reds for a three game series at Angels Stadium starting on Monday.
Simon will be providing the Reds some long inning relief pitching work after he finished his rehabilitation assignment in Louisville recently.
