Steve Adams reports the news on Monday the Seattle Mariners have signed former Detroit Tigers right handed relief pitcher Al Albuquerque to a minor league contract. Albuquerque had pitched for the Detroit Tigers as a relief pitcher from 2011-2015. Albuquerque has signed a one year, $1.1 million dollar contract to pitch as a relief pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim but he only made two relief appearances for the team since he spent the majority of the current baseball season with their AAA minor league team the Salt Lake City Bees before he was released by the team on August 13. Albuquerque will be working as a relief pitcher for the Tacoma Rainiers which is the AAA minor league team of the Mariners for the time being. It is possible that the Mariners will bring Albuquerque to their team on Thursday when the rosters of all teams in the Major Leagues expand from 25 to 40 players on September 1, 2016.

He barely registered with the Angels. Seattle will call him up Friday with roster expansion.

I figure that he will be an additional bullpen player in September.
