Favorite Canadian Acts #7 - Triumph

#7 in my Favorite Canadian Acts series belongs to the power trio Triumph, who had a string of success in the 1980's, and are still at it to this day. Triumph (vocalist/guitarist Rik Emmett, bassist/keyboardist Mike Levine, and drummer/vocalist Gil Moore) formed in Ontario in 1975. They have 18 Gold and nine Platinum records, and are in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. The band also works with multiple charities, donating royalties from sales. Like a lot of people, I "discovered" Triumph from their 1981 album Allied Forces and had to work my way back through their catalogue. Their single "Magic Power" was a starting point for many in my high school, possibly because those same kids thought it was Rush at the time. They aren't Rush, but they are a great trio with a very talented guitar player in Rik Emmett. All of those Gold and Platinum records are proof.
