Does shape of bowl help growth of bamboo plants?

I have 2 bamboo plants. One is plants in a saucer like glass container where I pour water once in a week. The other one is like a concave shaped glass container but has more capacity to hold water. I saw this plant growing faster than the other plant. May be the shape of the container has a role to play in the growth of the bamboo plant.
