Taylor Smith reports the news the Colorado Rockies have activated from the 15 day disabled list first baseman Mark Reynolds. Reynold had been placed on the 15 day disabled list on August 12, 2016 with a broken hamate bone in his left hand. To make room for Reynolds on the Rockies 25 man active roster that will expand to 40 players on Thursday, the Rockies placed their utility player Daniel Descalso on the paternity list. Reynold signed a one year contract with the Rockies before the start of spring training 2016 after he played the 2015 baseball season with the St. Louis Cardinals. Reynolds will became a free agent at the end of the current baseball season. The Rockies are not out of the playoff hunt yet but overcoming a seven game deficit with for a wild card entry will be a tough climb for them for the remainder of the current baseball season.

His presence doe snot matter to the Rockies but he would like to have a strong finish so someone will sign him in the offseason.

That is the fun of being a free agent to be. See if any team wants him to play for their team in 2017.

At least they're still in contention. After the last few season's, that's all I can ask for.

I know what you mean. Better to be in contention at this late stage of the season instead wait until next year.
