Steve Adams reports the news the Baltimore Orioles have claimed off the waiver wire former Texas Rangers outfielder Drew Stubbs. Stubbs was designated for assignment by the Rangers on August 25, 2016. Since Stubbs refused to return to the Rangers AAA minor league team the Round Rock Express, the Rangers decided to release him on August 29, 2016. To make room for Stubbs on the Orioles 25 man roster, the Orioles designated for assignment left handed relief pitcher Kyle Lobstein. Lobstein had been traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates to the Orioles on Wednesday in exchange for left handed pitcher Zach Phillips. Stubbs will be useful as a reserve player with the Orioles during the remainder of the 2016 baseball season. The Orioles are currently in contention to make it to playoffs this year. The Orioles are three games back of the Toronto Blue Jays for the lead in the American League East Division.

Stubbs was once a promising prospect with the Reds who just didn't deliver.

I understand he is now a journeyman player.

That's pretty much true of every pitcher for the Reds in the past 3-4 years. They have a pitcher named Homer who gives up homers, a pitcher named Jumbo who gives up jumbo innings, and a pitcher named Hoover who sucks. Their good pitchers are playing for someone else.

@FourWalls I feel your pain as a closet New Orleans Saints fan.
