I'm a Card Hoarder

I mostly keep the greeting cards that people send my family for Christmas, birthdays, graduations, holidays, etc., I have found one way to make them useful is to make bookmarks out of them. I simply cut a strip 2x the size of the bookmark I want, fold it over and tape it together. Greeting cards make lovely bookmarks.
Any other suggestions for recycling my hoard of greeting cards?

It is not hoarding. It is having a collection of keepsakes!

I agree with you John Roberts! I got out the Christmas cards today thinking to make some crafts with them but there's no way I'm cutting those up! Too many memories.

That is an awesome idea! I have had some fancy bookmarks in the past, and now I am down to one. I don't know what happens to them. That's a cool way to save the cards. I used to have a dresser drawer where I put them all. I simply don't have room any longer, and every year I have to toss them. Otherwise you'd have to keep them in an album maybe, one of those scrapbooks with the plastic you can put over the pages.
That reminds me I'm looking for newspaper sized albums, I have the news items from when my SF Giants won the World Series those three years recently, they're gonna fall apart if I don't preserve them pretty soon.
Anyway, good luck with other card ideas. I think what you're doing with the bookmarks is fantastic!

I "hide" my cards everywhere, desks, dresser drawers, cabinets, books, albums. I'm looking for ways to make ornaments or other crafts with them. If I find any good ones I'll share.
If your newspapers are in good enough shape you might try laminating them with clear contact paper to preserve them.

I thought about doing placemats with some of them. That will make for a festive dining table for the holidays. I'm also trying to figure out how to cut them into strips and weave into small gift baskets. I will post a pic here and share my idea when I make something good with them.
