I asked him to meet me in my room for clarification

When I am taking a class one of the students in the Class asked me a question on 'The Theory of Relativity'. He is intelligent and reads nicely. He almost surpasses other students. The Class was meant for 10th standard. There is no chapter on that topic. If I take up a class just because of that boy the whole hour will become damn waste. At the same time, other students may feel discouraged and may even get diffidence on their performance. If they can not understand they may also develop a 'DISLIKE' towards physics. So I advised him to come to my room if he wants to seek clarification / s on such topics. Am I correct?

Yes, I think addressing off topic questions would be best done separately so the other studentws aren't confused. Or maybe he even needs a different class?

Or maybe he was just showing off. But I always try to answer question to maintain student interest. If they're off-topic, I say, "Let's continue this discussion after class."

yes. teachers called us to their cabin all the time in school and college for individual clarification. Why are you unsure of this action?

I always talk to students after class, or during office hours. It seems the appropriate time to discuss the material further. What did he want to know about relativity?

He sounds like he is really smart but yes if it becomes a disruption to the rest of the class I think you did the right thing.
