Sam Robinson reports the news on Friday the Oakland Athletics have activated from the 15 day disabled list left handed relief pitcher Sean Doolittle.
Doolittle had been on the 15 day disabled list since June 30 which was retroactive to June 26, 2016 with a left shoulder strain.
Dooliitle has been working as a set up relief pitcher during the 2016 Major League Baseball season since Ryan Madson is the current closer of the Athletics this year.
Even though the Athletics are not in contention to make the playoffs this year, the addition of Doolittle on their 40 man roster will increase their chances to play the role of spoiler for the teams that in contention to make a playoff run this year.

The A's had wanted to trade Doolittle but his injury spoiled those plans.

I do remember the story that the Athletics did want to trade Doolittle to a contending team before his injury put a hold on their plans.
