Day 169 Psalm 148 Psalm 148:1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise him in the heights. 2 Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts. 3 Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light. 4 Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens. 5 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created. 6 He hath also established them forever and ever: he hath made a decree which shall not pass. 7 Praise the LORD from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps: 8 Fire, and hail; snow, and vapor; stormy wind fulfilling his word: 9 Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars: 10 Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl: 11 Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of the earth: 12 Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children: 13 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven. 14 He also exalts the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise ye the LORD. We all have people we admire and look up to. We sing their praises and think there is no one to compare to them. You can read all about your favorite person in the tabloids, the Internet, magazines, and newspapers. We get to know all about that person and we long to be as close to them as possible. The psalmist sung the praises of his God. He also noted how creation praised God, as well as the angels and everything that had life in it. He wanted to be as close to God as possible and know as much about him as he could. In doing so he gave God praise with every new thing he learned about him. As Christians we have opportunities every day to give God praise. He blesses us in ways we cannot even begin to understand, and loves us more than anyone ever could. Our whole being should be praising God at all times. The more we read God’s Word and get to know him, the more we will praise him. No other god compares with our God. No other god sacrificed his Son, to be our Savior and give us eternal life. That alone should put praise on our lips and give us something to sing about. Find something today to praise God about and you will find joy in your hearts when you do. Let’s pray: Father, I give you praise for all you have done for me, for sending your Son, Jesus, to be my Savior and Lord. Help me to have a song in my heart and praise on my lips for what you have done for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 4 September 2016 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
