Matthew Schmidt reports the news the Chicago Cubs have activated from the 15 day disabled list right handed starting pitcher John Lackey on Sunday. Lackey had signed a two year, $32 million dollar contract with the Chicago Cubs before the start of the 2016 Major League Baseball season after he was not able a contract agreement with the St. Louis Cardinals at the end of the 2015 Major League Baseball season. Lackey had been placed on the 15 day disabled list on August 19 2016 which was retroactive to August 15 with a strain of his right shoulder. Lackey was the starting pitcher for the Cubs on Sunday afternoon versus the San Francisco Giants but he ended up with a no decision in the Cubs 3-2 win over the Giants in 13 innings at Wrigley Field in Chicago Illinois. The addition of Lackey increases the chances of the Cubs winning the National League Central Division title for the first time since 2008.

With Lackey back, the Cubs have a rock solid starting rotation.

You are not kidding. Maybe my dream of seeing the Cubs winning their first World Series since 1908 could happen this year,
