I was alarmed when my daughter told me that she caught a dengue mosquito in their school. I confronted her if she's sure it's really a dengue mosquito and she showed the photo she took with her phone. See the photo. Is this really a dengue mosquito?

I think its aedes aegypti, but hey, before you get alarmed, not all that kind of mosquito is a carrier of dengue virus. That kind of mosquito can only be carrier when it bite people who has dengue virus, when it bite another person that's when the virus will be transferred. But when it did not bite a dengue person it will never be a carrier.

It is possible that the mosquito is an aedes aegypti but that does not conclude that it's a dengue mosquito, these species only become carriers after they have bitten somebody who is infected.

Only primary examination is not enough, secondary examination needs to be conducted to confirm your apprehension !!
