Steve Adams reports the news on Tuesday the Miami Marlins who are currently five games out of the second slot in the National League Standings have activated from the disabled list outfielder Gioncarlo Stanton and first baseman Justin Bour.
Stanton has been on the disabled list since August 13 with a groin strain that was supposed to keep him out of the roster until the last week of the 2016 regular season.
Stanton will likely be playing as a pinch hitter role for Thursday's game versus the Philadelphia at Marlins Park in Miami Florida.
The Marlins management will be second guessed by bringing back Stanton quicker than he was supposed to since they feel his presence on the team will inspire his teammates to improve their chances of winning games for the remainder of the current baseball season.
Of course if the Marlins were in contention to make a playoff run would be a moot point.
