Hyderabad in India is known for varieties of Paans. A Paan is an edible dish which is preferred after a heavy meals / dinner. It is prepared mainly with betel leaves. It contains different types of stuff. It is actually the stuff kept inside a Paan makes one different from the other. Some Paans are stuffed using substances that give intoxication and some give good digesting power. The cost of a Paan, a general one will be approximately Rs.50/-. In some regions, it is also known by the name BEEDA
During Nizam period and also after some period of the Nizams or say during 1800-1920 there were Paans prepared using the stuff made of Silver, Gold, and Pearls. Even during the Pre-British period and to before Independence there were Paans which were being prepared using Gold Stuff. The cost of each one in the present currency would be Rs.20,000/- (nearly $350). Do you believe this? These were used mainly for a happy sexual life and enjoyment.
