Have You Ever Been Through the Lincoln Tunnel?

Here in Virginia, we have some tunnels. I’ve been through the Hampton Rhodes Tunnel several times. I’ve also been through the Chesapeake Bay Tunnel.
However, I have NOT been through the Lincoln Tunnel that joins midtown Manhattan in New York City with Weehawken, NJ. I know that the tunnel goes under the Hudson River and that there are THREE tubes which opened in different years, the first in 1937. I also know that the tunnels are about a mile and a half long.
What surprised me was the number of vehicles that pass through those tunnels every day. Over 100,000 vehicles. That’s amazing to me.
So, I was wondering: Are there 100,000 people who live in New Jersey but work in Manhattan? Is that what all the traffic through those tunnels represent?
