In a medium sized building located in Dallas, Texas, a team of scientists are assembled regarding the latest breakthroughs of cyber manipulation and control. Leading the team is a Dr. Henry Botsworth.
The company is called NuCon Technologies. On the outside, it looks like a fairly mundane building, but on the inside there are experiments being conducted on the mind's of 19 children.
"Dr. Botsworth, we must insist that the experiments on these children be halted. We have already lost one test subject. Additional children were almost lost in Swamp Hill. You are playing with fire."
"We shall not stop," said Dr. Botsworth. "These children are orphans. No one really cares about them. We take good care of our subjects. We feed them. We give them security. If we lose a life or two, that is the risk that I am willing to accept."
"But it's wrong," cried Dr. Wensworth. "Enough is enough."
"Might I remind you that you are all wearing a special collar that is attached to your neck. Any attempts to stop this experimentation will lead to very painful shock currents going through your body. You accepted to work with me for over one million dollar apiece. You will continue with the work until I am finished with this experiment. The children will go to the Abstract void. Following that, they will go to void 10, the Dream void. Afterwards, all those children that are still alive shall be taken by Flavoid to meet their masters. They will experience the affects of being human pets. The whole process of my experiments should end within four days."
"This is barbaric," hollered Dr. Jena Williams. "You are making these children suffer. I want no more part of this."
"Very well," said Dr. Botsworth. "Leave."
"But this collar," said Dr. Williams. "You must remove it."
"No, I must activate it." With that, Dr. Botsworth released the full force of the electric collar.
"Ahhh," screamed Dr. Williams. A few seconds later, she was dead.
"Anyone else want to challenge me?" asked Dr. Botsworth. "I didn't think so. I want the Abstract void programmed for tomorrow. I think that the children are in for a fascinating time."
Well reader. I don't think that you saw this coming. What will happen to the children? Can anyone stop Dr. Botsworth from conducting his dangerous experiments. Stay tuned for the next installment of "The Last Bus Ride."

Wasn't expecting that. A great twist to the story leaves me wanting to read more.
