Some of my friends in face-book shared a video recently regarding a certain sardines that was found to have worms on it. It was disgusting, but later I realized that I haven't eaten sardines in a long time. With regards to the video, the stomach of that fish had a lot of worms.
I thought you will get worms with uncooked meat or unwashed hands. This reminds of a certain salmon that had worms on it too.
Now, This reminds me to wash the vegetables more thorough from now on.

Fish quite frequently have parasitic worms. There is usually no problem, since the parasites are mostly in the gut which is discarded and cleaned before the fish is cooked. In the case of tinned sardines, it seems that certain types of parasite are quite common and that the fish is so small that cleaning them completely is impractical. Since canned sardines (along with anything else) are cooked inside the can, there is absolutely no danger of the parasite being infectious and it is quite safe to eat.
There was recently some concern that the parasites in canned sardines might be non-kosher but DNA analysis has now declared them to be safe for the Jewish community.

Hello @owlwings I don't know why this is happening but not every can has worms, but people get easily paranoid and change their minds about buying that. It's hard to believe I used to eat sardines often, but now I'm more involved with vegetables.

@Letranknight2015 I'd definitely be wary of eating sardines from now on.

@Letranknight2015 I guess so! I know some foods come with prizes - but I don't think anyone wants free worms with their sardines!

Hello @much2say I don't know worms got into these sardines but something in the factory that is seriously lacking, and that's probably quality control.
