Day 3 Proverbs 1:20-33 Proverbs 1:20 Wisdom cries without; she utters her voice in the streets: 21 She cries in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she utters her words, saying, 22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? And the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? 23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. 24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; 25 But ye have set at naught all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes; 27 When your fear comes as desolation, and your destruction comes as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish comes upon you. 28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: 29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: 30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. 31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. 32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. 33 But whoso hearkens unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil. Have you ever wondered why things seem to go from bad to worse without any reprieve? Have you wondered why your prayers aren’t answered when you are going through all the chaos in your lives? You seek advice of everyone you know, trying different things, but nothing works, you are still in the same situation or it’s become worse. And you wonder, when will it end. Where is the light at the end of the tunnel? Where is your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? Solomon has an answer to all your problems. If you have ignored sound wisdom. If you prefer doing things your way and ignore good counsel. If you’ve turned your heart away from God and prefer your own way of doing things, then you will see trouble. God will not hear or listen to anyone whose heart is turned away from him. As Christians, you too can run into the same problems because you think you know all the answers and you refuse to listen to wise counsel when it’s given to you. However, you too need to be aware of the Holy Spirit’s leading in your life. You need to pay attention to the wise counsel of other believers when they give sound advice. You need to pray and repent of your bullishness in insisting on your way of doing things, and then God will hear and show you the way out of your troubles. We all want to live in peace and safety, and we can, when we listen to God and the wisdom he gives us through his Word and other believers. Let’s pray: Father, help me listen to good counsel and the wisdom you show me in your Word. Help me to be quick to listen so that I too can live in peace and safety and evil will not come near me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 9 September 2016 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

that is very true. also God works things out in his own ways, which human "wisdom" just cannot compete at times. my life is a sign of that for sure

And we know that God's ways are much better than our ways.

@just4him indeed, as we can't really see beyond the moment..and mostly we don't even know what's happening in that moment elsewhere that will affect us
