Your TV and Energy Usage: What Are Your Thoughts? / myLot

Do you prefer, to have your television set on at all times, regardless if, anyone is seriously watching it? If so, do you especially keep it on, for 'white noise' when you are initially going to sleep? Also -- Do you prefer to only have your TV on, at times where someone is actually watching it? What are your thoughts about energy usage and your TV being on or off?

I prefer to have the TV turned off when no one is watching it.

My television is always on standby and permanently on during the evenings. I also set it to play for about 3 hours every day if I am away. The overall cost of energy consumed is minimal and would not really make much difference to my electricity bill.

The only time I keep the TV on when no one is watching it is when we go to bed. I do like to sleep with some noise. Other than that we turn it off if no one is watching.

I only open our TV during news time. We are not fond of watching variety shows. At times if there are special coverage of special occasion, I let it open or stay on. Like when the Pope visited Philippines.
