Connor Byrne reports the news on Saturday the Minnesota Twins have placed their third baseman Trevor Plouffe on the 15 day disabled list with a strain of his left oblique. Even though Plouffe would be eligible to return to the team after his 15 day time on the disabled list expires, it is highly unlikely to see him return to the team since the Twins are not in contention to make the playoffs this year. Jorge Polanco and Miguel Sano will share third base duties for the remainder of the 2016 Major League Baseball season. One reason the Twins would not be interested in bringing back Plouffe back on the team in 2017 is he is eligible for arbitration before the start of the 2017 baseball season and the Twins would likely be looking to hire a player that will come with a smaller price tag. Plouffe has played his entire career in the Major Leagues with the Minnesota Twins since 2010.
