Starting to learn about the world of the Polly Pockets.

Today I went to my granddaughter´s birthday. As you know, I bought her play dough. But the other things she most wanted were lots of Polly Pockets and she got a floor full of them. I say "a floor full" because that´s where she played with them and I´m afraid thast that´s where they will stay until Claudia picks them up. Gone were the days of an only doll. Sofía also recieved a big doll from her parents, but that was besides the small dolls wit all sorts of extra things to play with them Have you seen a Polly Pocket doll? Do you think that they are replacing Barbies?

@silvermist My granddaughter is an expert on losing toys. Their dog helps her.

@marguicha If they are smaller, after a time some will be lost or misplaced.Or all the pieces should be put away after playing.

I had to look up Polly Pockets because the name meant absolutely nothing to me. Of course there is no way of knowing whether this will become a long and popular craze or just a short term fad.

@marguicha This is true and when one child has something others soon want the same.

It will depend on TV commercials more than on children. The kids want all they see.

@Asylum I´m sure that there are places where children have not heard of it. This comes with cable TV for kids.

It much depends on the market, Patsie. That is how it all works now.

Oh my goodness, I think I must be getting old. I do not even know what that is until I read to the end of your post. I wonder how much the parents have to spend if their young daughter wants to collect the full set of the dolls.

@marguicha Not all girls are like that. Some girls love their dolls so much that they cannot bear to part with their dolls.

And children don´t collect. They break and lose. So that they will always want another doll.

I haven't seen one. What is it like? The last latest modern doll I remember is Barbie.

Never seen a Polly pocket doll but have seen Polly pocket toys though. I don't think any doll can replace a Barbie.
