Jeff Todd reports the news on Monday the Pittsburgh Pirates have activated from the 15 day disabled list right handed starting pitcher Gerrit Cole. Cole had been placed on the 15 day disabled list on August 29 which was retroactive to August 25, 2016 with inflammation to his right elbow. Cole will be making his next starting pitching start in Philadelphia Pennsylvania at Citizens Bank Park versus the Philadelphia Phillies. Even though the Pirates are six games away from the second place slot in the National League Wild Card Playoff race, Cole will have the incentive to give the Pirates a chance to play the spoiler role for the contending teams that in the playoff hunt for the remainder of the 2016 Major League Baseball season. Cole is the ace starting pitcher of the Pirates. His absence from being able to pitch did hurt the Pirates chances of being contenders to make a playoff run in 2016.
