Okay so my mother in law had a whole set of older cook books that she has been saving for the wife of whichever one of her son's got married first, my husband and I were the first so I got them.
In one of the books is a ton of recipes for tons of different kinds of food. There is a whole section dedicated to pancakes but my mother in law showed me a recipe that she used to do all the time. I started making pancakes by scratch following it and they come out movie perfect! I love the recipe and so does my son and everyone.
Yesterday night for dinner we were all supposed to make our own pancakes for dinner and I had made one for myself and one for my son. I think my mother in law used butter flavored Crisco instead of regular melted butter in the mix so the batter came out a little different. While she was making her and my father in law's pancakes she ended up kinda burning them, but I chalk that up to her trying to make them and watch dancing with the stars at the same time lol. She told me that I am better at making pancakes and that was just the biggest compliment to me considering I am not the best at cooking but I am trying to get better all the time.
Do you make pancakes from scratch? Do you make other foods from scratch that can be bought as an instant cooking type package?

That is a wonderful compliment coming from your mother-in-law. Sounds like the two of you have a good relationship.

I cook a lot from scratch...it usually is the norm in small towns.
