I have always been a "Big Girl" but I hit rock bottom about 2 yrs ago when I saw myself on my sister's wedding video. A few days after I had to go in to the doctor, my doctor made a comment "You know your still young and you need to think about your future and your health." That sunk in deep...that day I weighed in at 316 lbs. I was totally mortified as to how come I got so big. Well 2 yrs later and 10 pants sizes down I have successfully lost over 100 lbs because of joining a gym and doing South Beach. Now I get great comments and get hit on all the time lol. I have become very confident about myself and my husband is super happy about my success...I feel great that's all that matters is my health. Needless to say my doctor has been the happiest of all. I would just love to hear anyone else's stories..please share!

I had a problem until I found a doctor who was smart enough to discover that I was insulin resistant. When I got a diet that addressed that problem, I lost weight.

How did he found out that you were insulin resistant? What kind of test do they use? Thank you

Yea I'm fat, I look back and can't understand how I let myself get like this, it is really depressing. I am 31, 5'10" and are you ready....247 according to my Dr scale, mine say 243, hey 4 pounds is 4 pounds. Anyway, I am currently and have been for the past month, exercising twice a day and counting every little piece that goes into my mouth. I wanted to have gastric bypass but they don't see it as a necessity here I guess, both major city hospitals don't do them anymore, for a while anyway. Of course. Anyway, I hope to get back to 160 sometime. Thanks for the discussion. :)

congrats on your weight loss! You have done great! I have always yo yo'd in weight. I have PCOS and when I have my disease process under control I get thinner. When its out of control I gain weight. I hate it. Right now i'm heavier than i want to be but then I also had a baby 5.5 months ago (and that is when i put the weight on). Before i had her i had it under control Honestly i need to find a good exercise routine and stick to it. I love to jog but have a hard time being consistant and do it every day. Its hard when i'm home with the baby all day. And I also need to stop snacking on sweets. Which is a huge down fall for me.
