I’m getting more annoyed and less able to “power through” ….

Is it just me and I’m getting more crabby and less tolerant and more cynical and less nice and more irritated and less easy going and more unpleasant and less civil? And, can I blame it all, or most of it, on this election campaign and even more specifically, on the media?
If I hear one more politician or news person use the term “power through,” I think I may finally lose it. I’m very close. I’ve never heard this term before, not until Hillary declared she has pneumonia and is being lauded for powering through. Was this term just invented to suit the occasion or did I miss something along the way?
The media, especially cable news, is known to seize on favorite phrases and words and incidents and repeat them ad nauseum 24/7. For some reason, the “power through” thing is driving me crazy. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me becoming more crabby and less tolerant?

Isn't it an asinine phrase? For some reason it really bothers me. I've never heard it said before this incident.

@LindaCPearson Ma'am, I know this election season has been a painful test of endurance. But we've got two more months of this nonsense, so you have to be strong and power through to the end. xD
Sorry, sorry. I couldn't resist. But ma'am I know your pain, but whadda ya expect with the Demoratic Party and Liberal Media make Hillary out to be the hero she's not. Hell, in a creepily ominous way, it seems like they're making her ou to be a messianic figure of the masses. Of course it can be argued they did it with Obama too, but it's a lot more blatant here.
And this whole "boys vs. girls" paradaigm is really old, but hey anything to promote this false sense of "female empowerment" instead of focusing on actual efforts made by women. Hell the actual effort is the bone women are thrown every now and again to make American women feel good.
To be honest with the way Presidential succession is handled, we're better off being a Monarchy because we all know who the Government wants to win and they manipulate matters to ensure that victory, so why bother pretending as if us peasants actually have a say?

@amadeo After Clinton got sick and left the memorial service Sunday am at the World Trade Center, it was revealed she was diagnosed with pneumonia the Friday before and told by her doctor to stay home and rest, but she decided to "power through" and continue with her busy campaign schedule.

Since "power through" seems to have run its course the term that's starting to annoy me is "baked in" or "baked in the cake". I've been following politics for a long time and I don't remember hearing this phrase until this election cycle. I kind of found "power through" to be sexist, not when Hillary said it originally (if she was the first one to say it) but when the media kept using it over and over. They'd never say that about a man just like they'd never talk about a man's "stamina" or what his voice or laugh sounds like.

I haven't heard any "baked in" comments yet but I've also cut back considerably on watching CNN, for health reasons!!!

I would rather she do what she needs too if ill, rather than risk her own health and possibly expose others (is that one ever contageous? cant remember)

Her case according to HER doctor wasn't contagious as I understand it. I'm not sure if it sometimes is but the cold that it can start off as often is I guess. I definitely wouldn't think it acceptable for Hillary, or anyone, to risk others' health but in this case I totally understand why she didn't disclose her diagnose before she had no choice in the matter. Donald's campaign, especially the orange one himself and fellow loud-mouth Rudy Giuliani, had been running their mouths in recent weeks about some mysterious illness they were saying Hillary was suffering from, all made up obviously, but when she actually DID become ill with a very common, very treatable condition she had to feel somewhat paranoid about how it would be received if she announced that she'd been diagnosed with pneumonia and would have to take a few days off to rest and, by the way, she'd have to miss the 9/11 Memorial. Let's be honest, we all know she'd have been brutally attacked by the Drumpf campaign as well as the media.

Media does seem to grab a term and use it to the exclusion of all else. A few years ago, had you ever heard of a 'polar vortex', not me, now every other winter storm is given that description.
The overuse of a phrase or term is annoying....and yes, I think we, as a public, are becoming less tolerant.

Ah, the good old polar vortex! It is aggravating, isn't it? I thought maybe it was just me getting old and crabby!
