Ben Levine reports the news the Miami Dolphins have signed former San Diego Chargers linebacker Donald Butler to a contract on Tuesday.
The terms of the contract were not released to the public by the Dolphins management.
Butler beat out linebacker A J Hawk to gain a spot on the Dolphins 53 man roster.
Due to a calf injury to defensive tackle Earl Mitchell, the Dolphins needed a replacement player on their 53 man roster and for some strange reason the Dolphins chose Butler instead of Hawk.
Butler was released by the Chargers in March 2016 after he spent six seasons with the Chargers even though he did not play in his rookie year in 2010 due to an injury to his ACL.
Mitchell has been placed on the injured reserved list with a calf injury. Mitchell is eligible to return to the team in Week 10 versus the San Diego Chargers if he is fully healthy of course.
